ZenOffice girls go pink to smash cancer target

A team of girls from ZenOffice raised an amazing £2,257.50 by taking part in the Race for Life at Heaton Park on Sunday 14th July. The fundraising group was delighted to smash their pre-race target of £2,000.

Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

Whilst 20 girls took part in the actual race, we ensured that our fundraising was a real team effort by setting up a series of mini ‘office’ Race for Life challenges in the weeks leading up to the big day.

Over 70 non-running staff took part in crazy office-based challenges such as ‘Human Post-it’, ‘Airzooka Paper Cups’, ’30-foot Mouse Scroll’, ‘Paper Aeroplane’, ‘Wastepaper Ball Shootout’ and a ‘Wear it Pink’ day.

We also held a raffle at our staff summer party, at which the biggest prize was donated by Kitbag.com – a signed Wayne Rooney Manchester United shirt, which raised another £600.

Cancer Research UK was so impressed with our efforts that the charity invited ZenOffice to attend an open day to visit their laboratories in Manchester and allowed us to see exactly where the funds were being spent.

Our charity fundraising ambassador, Toni Rothwell, and Sales Director Steph Hitchman both attended the open day. Amongst other things, they discovered what their cells look like under a microscope, spoke to a scientist about the research they have done to stop cancer spreading, and heard a presentation about how funds are spent.

Steph commented, “The open day was a real eye opener and hit home the fight that researchers and scientists have on their hands to one day cure all cancers. ZenOffice are proud to be supporting and will continue to support such an amazing charity.”

And last week ZenOffice took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raised £210.10 for another great cause.

A big thank you goes out to all our friends, family, suppliers and clients who supported us and donated generously. Well done, everybody!
